PRIMUN 2023

Strengthening Global Synergies to Oppose Radicalization

On Wednesday, January 18, 2023 the gavel resounded in the auditorium of House B. PRIMUN 2023, the Model United Nations Conference of Primo-Levi-Gymnasium, was officially declared open.

Over the next three days, 112 students took on the role of delegates from different nations to recreate the work of the United Nations. The banner topic "Strengthening Global Synergies to Oppose Radicalization," set the frame for the following debates which were held in separate committees. For example, the Historical Security Council addressed the genocide in Rwanda, the Disarmament Committee problematized the arming of civilians in military conflicts, and the Junior Committee focussed on improving education to prevent radicalization. The project brought together not only students from year 7-12, but also guests from Theresienschule, Leibniz-Gymnasium and Rosa-Luxemburg-Gymnasium.

Draft resolutions were proposed by allying member states at a high level of language and content and improved and voted on in formal - but nevertheless heated - debate. Enlightening speeches, critical questions and a few humorous "punishments” characterized all debates, which were professionally led by the Chairs, students of the PRIMUN AG from year 12.

The conference was monitored by a Press Team that prepared articles in the run-up to the conference and continuously published articles, videos and photos on the news page during the conference. The Tech Team ensured that everything ran smoothly, especially during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies in the auditorium. The Film Team put in a spectacular night shift to edit the Aftermovie and the "Admins" helped out in all nooks and crannies. Especially the preparation of the cookie breaks and the heating of the pizza was greatly appreciated by all.
